1 So this was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families: The border of Edom at the Wilderness of Zin southward was the extreme southern boundary.
1 ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο τὰ ὅρια φυλῆς Ἰούδα κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῆς Ἰδουμαίας ἀπὸ τῆς ἐρήμου Σὶν ἕως Κάδης πρὸς λίβα.
2 And their southern border began at the shore of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward.
2 καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῶν τὰ ὅρια ἀπὸ λιβὸς ἕως μέρους θαλάσσης τῆς ἁλυκῆς, ἀπὸ τῆς λοφιᾶς τῆς φερούσης ἐπὶ λίβα
3 Then it went out to the southern side of the Ascent of Akrabbim, passed along to Zin, ascended on the south side of Kadesh Barnea, passed along to Hezron, went up to Adar, and went around to Karkaa.
3 καὶ διαπορεύεται ἀπέναντι τῆς προσαναβάσεως Ἀκραβὶν καὶ ἐκπεριπορεύεται Σενὰ καὶ ἀναβαίνει ἀπὸ λιβὸς ἐπὶ Κάδης Βαρνὴ καὶ ἐκπορεύεται Ἀσωρὼν καὶ προσαναβαίνει εἰς Σάραδα καὶ ἐκπορεύεται τὴν κατὰ δυσμὰς Κάδης
4 From there it passed toward Azmon and went out to the Brook of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. This shall be your southern border.
4 καὶ ἐκπορεύεται ἐπὶ Σελμωνὰν καὶ διεκβάλλει ἕως φάραγγος Αἰγύπτου, καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῦ ἡ διέξοδος τῶν ὁρίων ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν· τοῦτό ἐστιν αὐτῶν ὅρια ἀπὸ λιβός.
5 The east border was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan. And the border on the northern quarter began at the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan.
5 καὶ τὰ ὅρια ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν· πᾶσα ἡ θάλασσα ἡ ἁλυκὴ ἕως τοῦ Ἰορδάνου. καὶ τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν ἀπὸ βορρᾶ καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς λοφιᾶς τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ μέρους τοῦ Ἰορδάνου·
6 The border went up to Beth Hoglah and passed north of Beth Arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.
6 ἐπιβαίνει τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ Βαιθαγλὰ καὶ παραπορεύεται ἀπὸ Βορρᾶ ἐπὶ Βαιθάραβα, καὶ προσαναβαίνει τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ λίθον Βαιὼν υἱοῦ Ρουβήν,
7 Then the border went up toward Debir from the Valley of Achor, and it turned northward toward Gilgal, which is before the Ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the valley. The border continued toward the waters of En Shemesh and ended at En Rogel.
7 καὶ προσαναβαίνει τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ τὸ τέταρτον τῆς φάραγγος Ἀχὼρ καὶ καταβαίνει ἐπὶ Γαλγάλ, ἥ ἐστιν ἀπέναντι τῆς προσβάσεως Ἀδδαμίν, ἥ ἐστι κατὰ λίβα τῇ φάραγγι, καὶ διεκβάλλει ἐπὶ τὸ ὕδωρ πηγῆς τοῦ ἡλίου, καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῦ ἡ διέξοδος πηγὴ Ρωγήλ,
8 And the border went up by the Valley of the Son of Hinnom to the southern slope of the Jebusite city (which is Jerusalem). The border went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the Valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the Valley of Rephaim northward.
8 καὶ ἀναβαίνει τὰ ὅρια εἰς φάραγγα Ὀνὸμ ἐπὶ νώτου Ἰεβοῦς ἀπὸ λιβὸς (αὕτη ἐστὶν Ἱερουσαλὴμ) καὶ διεκβάλλει τὰ ὅρια ἐπὶ κορυφὴν ὄρους, ἥ ἐστι κατὰ πρόσωπον φάραγγος Ὀνὸμ πρὸς θαλάσσης, ἥ ἐστιν ἐκ μέρους γῆς Ραφαΐν ἐπὶ βορρᾶ,
9 Then the border went around from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and extended to the cities of Mount Ephron. And the border went around to Baalah (which is Kirjath Jearim).
9 καὶ διεκβάλλει τὸ ὅριον ἀπὸ κορυφῆς τοῦ ὄρους ἐπὶ πηγὴν ὕδατος Ναφθὼ καὶ διεκβάλλει εἰς τὸ ὄρος Ἐφρών, καὶ ἄξει τὸ ὅριον εἰς Βαὰλ (αὕτη ἐστὶ πόλις Ἰαρίμ),
10 Then the border turned westward from Baalah to Mount Seir, passed along to the side of Mount Jearim on the north (which is Chesalon), went down to Beth Shemesh, and passed on to Timnah.
10 καὶ περιελεύσεται ὅριον ἀπὸ Βαὰλ ἐπὶ θάλασσαν καὶ παρελεύσεται εἰς ὄρος Ἀσσὰρ ἐπὶ νώτου, Πόλιν Ἰαρὶν ἀπὸ βορρᾶ (αὕτη ἐστὶ Χασλὼν) καὶ καταβήσεται ἐπὶ Πόλιν ἡλίου καὶ παρελεύσεται ἐπὶ λίβα,
11 And the border went out to the side of Ekron northward. Then the border went around to Shicron, passed along to Mount Baalah, and extended to Jabneel; and the border ended at the sea.
11 καὶ διεκβάλλει τὸ ὅριον κατὰ νώτου Ἀκκαρὼν ἐπὶ βορρᾶν, καὶ διεκβαλεῖ τὰ ὅρια εἰς Σοκχὼθ καὶ παρελεύσεται ὅρια ἐπὶ λίβα καὶ διεκβαλεῖ ἐπὶ Λεβνά, καὶ ἔσται ἡ διέξοδος τῶν ὁρίων ἐπὶ θάλασσαν. καὶ τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν ἀπὸ θαλάσσης· ἡ θάλασσα ἡ μεγάλη ὁριεῖ.
12 The west border was the coastline of the Great Sea. This is the boundary of the children of Judah all around according to their families.
12 ταῦτα τὰ ὅρια υἱῶν Ἰούδα κύκλῳ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.
13 Now to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a share among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, namely, Kirjath Arba, which is Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak).
13 καὶ τῷ Χάλεβ υἱῷ Ἰεφονὴ ἔδωκε μερίδα ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν Ἰούδα διὰ προστάγματος τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Ἰησοῦς τὴν πόλιν Ἀρβὸκ μητρόπολιν Ἐνὰκ (αὕτη ἐστὶ Χεβρών).
14 Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak from there: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
14 καὶ ἐξωλόθρευσεν ἐκεῖθεν Χάλεβ υἱὸς Ἰεφονὴ τοὺς τρεῖς υἱοὺς Ἐνάκ, τὸν Σουσὶ καὶ Θολαμὶ καὶ τὸν Ἀχιμᾶ.
15 Then he went up from there to the inhabitants of Debir (formerly the name of Debir was Kirjath Sepher).
15 καὶ ἀνέβη ἐκεῖθεν Χάλεβ ἐπὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Δαβίρ· τὸ δὲ ὄνομα Δαβὶρ ἦν τὸ πρότερον Πόλις γραμμάτων.
16 And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kirjath Sepher and takes it, to him I will give Achsah my daughter as wife.”
16 καὶ εἶπε Χάλεβ· ὃς ἐὰν λάβῃ καὶ ἐκκόψῃ τὴν Πόλιν τῶν γραμμάτων καὶ κυριεύσῃ αὐτῆς, δώσω αὐτῷ τὴν Ἀσχὰν θυγατέρα μου εἰς γυναῖκα·
17 So Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
17 καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτὴν Γοθονιὴλ υἱὸς Κενὲζ ἀδελφὸς Χάλεβ ὁ νεώτερος καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ τὴν Ἀσχὰν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ γυναῖκα.
18 Now it was so, when she came to him, that she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. So she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you wish?”
18 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐκπορεύεσθαι αὐτὴν καὶ συνεβουλεύσατο αὐτῷ λέγουσα· αἰτήσομαι τὸν πατέρα μου ἀγρόν· καὶ ἐβόησεν ἐκ τοῦ ὄνου. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Χάλεβ· τί ἐστί σοι;
19 She answered, “Give me a blessing; since you have given me land in the South, give me also springs of water.” So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.
19 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· δός μοι εὐλογίαν, ὅτι εἰς γῆν Ναγὲβ δέδωκάς με· δός μοι τὴν Γολαθμαίν. καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ Χάλεβ τὴν Γολαθμαὶν τὴν ἄνω καὶ τὴν Γολαθμαὶν τὴν κάτω.
20 This was the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families:
20 αὕτη ἡ κληρονομία φυλῆς υἱῶν Ἰούδα.
21 The cities at the limits of the tribe of the children of Judah, toward the border of Edom in the South, were Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,
21 Ἐγενήθησαν δὲ πόλεις αὐτῶν· πόλις πρώτη φυλῆς υἱῶν Ἰούδα ἐφ' ὁρίων Ἐδὼμ ἐπὶ τῆς ἐρήμου,
22 Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,
22 καὶ Βαισελεὴλ καὶ Ἀρὰ καὶ Ἀσὼρ καὶ Ἰκὰμ καὶ Ρεγμὰ καὶ Ἀρουὴλ
23 Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,
23 καὶ Κάδης καὶ Ἀσοριωναὶν καὶ Μαινὰμ
24 Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,
24 καὶ Βαλμαινὰν καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν
25 Hazor, Hadattah, Kerioth, Hezron (which is Hazor),
25 καὶ αἱ πόλεις Ἀσερὼν (αὕτη Ἀσὼρ)
26 Amam, Shema, Moladah,
26 καὶ Σὴν καὶ Σαλμαὰ καὶ Μωλαδᾶ
27 Hazar Gaddah, Heshmon, Beth Pelet,
27 καὶ Σερὶ καὶ Βαιφαλὰδ
28 Hazar Shual, Beersheba, Bizjothjah,
28 καὶ Χολασεωλὰ καὶ Βηρσαβεὲ καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν,
29 Baalah, Ijim, Ezem,
29 Βαλὰ καὶ Βακὼκ καὶ Ἀσὸμ
30 Eltolad, Chesil, Hormah,
30 καὶ Ἐλβωϋδὰδ καὶ Βαιθὴλ καὶ Ἑρμᾶ
31 Ziklag, Madmannah, Sansannah,
31 καὶ Σεκελὰκ καὶ Μαχαρὶμ καὶ Σεθεννὰκ
32 Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities are twenty-nine, with their villages.
32 καὶ Λαβὼς καὶ Σαλὴ καὶ Ἐρωμώθ, πόλεις εἰκοσιεννέα, καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν.
33 In the lowland: Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,
33 ἐν τῇ πεδινῇ· Ἀσταὼλ καὶ Ράα καὶ Ἄσσα
34 Zanoah, En Gannim, Tappuah, Enam,
34 καὶ Ράμεν καὶ Τανὼ καὶ Ἰλουθὼθ καὶ Μαιανὶ
35 Jarmuth, Adullam, Socoh, Azekah,
35 καὶ Ἱερμοὺθ καὶ Ὀδολλὰμ καὶ Μεμβρὰ καὶ Σαωχὼ καὶ Ἀζηκὰ
36 Sharaim, Adithaim, Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteen cities with their villages;
36 καὶ Σακαρὶμ καὶ Γάδηρα καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῆς, πόλεις δεκατέσσαρες καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
37 Zenan, Hadashah, Migdal Gad,
37 Σεννὰ καὶ Ἀδασὰν καὶ Μαγαδαλγὰδ
38 Dilean, Mizpah, Joktheel,
38 καὶ Δαλὰλ καὶ Μασφὰ καὶ Ἰαχαρεὴλ καὶ Λαχὶς
39 Lachish, Bozkath, Eglon,
39 καὶ Βασηδὼθ καὶ Ἰδεαδαλέα
40 Cabbon, Lahmas, Kithlish,
40 καὶ Χαβρὰ καὶ Μαχὲς καὶ Μααχὼς
41 Gederoth, Beth Dagon, Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteen cities with their villages;
41 καὶ Γεδδὼρ καὶ Βαγαδιὴλ καὶ Νωμὰν καὶ Μαχηδάν, πόλεις ἑκκαίδεκα καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
42 Libnah, Ether, Ashan,
42 Λεβνὰ καὶ Ἰθὰκ καὶ Ἀνὼχ
43 Jiphtah, Ashnah, Nezib,
43 καὶ Ἰανὰ καὶ Νασὶβ
44 Keilah, Achzib, and Mareshah: nine cities with their villages;
44 καὶ Κεϊλὰμ καὶ Ἀκιεζὶ καὶ Κεζὶβ καὶ Βαθησὰρ καὶ Αἰλώμ, πόλεις δέκα καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
45 Ekron, with its towns and villages;
45 Ἀκκαρὼν καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῆς καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν·
46 from Ekron to the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages;
46 ἀπὸ Ἀκκαρὼν Γεμνὰ καὶ πᾶσαι, ὅσαι εἰσὶ πλησίον Ἀσηδώθ, καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
47 Ashdod with its towns and villages, Gaza with its towns and villages—as far as the Brook of Egypt and the Great Sea with its coastline.
47 Ἀσιεδὼθ καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῆς καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῆς· Γάζα καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῆς καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῆς ἕως τοῦ χειμάρρου Αἰγύπτου· καὶ ἡ θάλασσα ἡ μεγάλη διορίζει.
48 And in the mountain country: Shamir, Jattir, Sochoh,
48 καὶ ἐν τῇ ὀρεινῇ· Σαμὶρ καὶ Ἰεθὲρ καὶ Σωχὰ
49 Dannah, Kirjath Sannah (which is Debir),
49 καὶ Ρεννὰ καὶ Πόλις γραμμάτων (αὕτη Δαβὶρ)
50 Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim,
50 καὶ Ἀνὼν καὶ Ἐσκαιμὰν καὶ Αἰσὰμ
51 Goshen, Holon, and Giloh: eleven cities with their villages;
51 καὶ Γοσὸμ καὶ Χαλοὺ καὶ Χαννά, πόλεις ἕνδεκα καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
52 Arab, Dumah, Eshean,
52 Αἰρὲμ καὶ Ρεμνὰ καὶ Σομὰ
53 Janum, Beth Tappuah, Aphekah,
53 καὶ Ἰεμαΐν καὶ Βαιθαχοὺ καὶ Φακουὰ
54 Humtah, Kirjath Arba (which is Hebron), and Zior: nine cities with their villages;
54 καὶ Εὐμὰ καὶ πόλις Ἀρβὸκ (αὕτη ἐστὶ Χεβρὼν) καὶ Σωραίθ, πόλεις ἐννέα καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν·
55 Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Juttah,
55 Μαὼρ καὶ Χερμὲλ καὶ Ὀζὶβ καὶ Ἰτὰν
56 Jezreel, Jokdeam, Zanoah,
56 καὶ Ἰαριὴλ καὶ Ἀρικὰμ καὶ Ζακαναΐμ
57 Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah: ten cities with their villages;
57 καὶ Γαβαὰ καὶ Θαμναθά, πόλεις ἐννέα καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
58 Halhul, Beth Zur, Gedor,
58 Ἀλουὰ καὶ Βαιθσοὺρ καὶ Γεδδὼν
59 Maarath, Beth Anoth, and Eltekon: six cities with their villages;
59 καὶ Μαγαρὼθ καὶ Βαιθανὰμ καὶ Θεκούμ, πόλεις ἓξ καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν· Θεκὼ καὶ Ἐφραθὰ (αὕτη ἐστὶ Βηθλεὲμ) καὶ Φαγὼρ καὶ Αἰτὰν καὶ Κουλὸν καὶ Τατὰμ καὶ Θωβὴς καὶ Καρὲμ καὶ Γαλὲμ καὶ Θεθὴρ καὶ Μανοχώ, πόλεις ἕνδεκα καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν·
60 Kirjath Baal (which is Kirjath Jearim) and Rabbah: two cities with their villages.
60 Καριαθβαὰλ (αὕτη ἡ πόλις Ἰαρὶμ) καὶ Σωθηβᾶ, πόλεις δύο καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν
61 In the wilderness: Beth Arabah, Middin, Secacah,
61 καὶ Βαδδαργεὶς καὶ Θαραβαὰμ καὶ Αἰνὼν
62 Nibshan, the City of Salt, and En Gedi: six cities with their villages.
62 καὶ Αἰχιοζὰ καὶ Ναφλαζὼν καὶ αἱ πόλεις Σαδὼν καὶ Ἀγκάδης, πόλεις ἑπτὰ καὶ αἱ κῶμαι αὐτῶν.
63 As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
63 καὶ ὁ Ἰεβουσαῖος κατῴκει ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ, καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνάσθησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰούδα ἀπολέσαι αὐτούς· καὶ κατῴκησαν οἱ Ἰεβουσαῖοι ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.
