1 Now this is the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom.
1 ΑΥΤΑΙ δὲ αἱ γενέσεις Ἡσαῦ (αὐτός ἐστιν Ἐδώμ)·
2 Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite; Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;
2 Ἡσαῦ δὲ ἔλαβε τὰς γυναῖκας ἑαυτῷ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τῶν Χαναναίων, τὴν Ἀδὰ θυγατέρα Αἰλὼμ τοῦ Χετταίου καὶ τοῦ Ὀλιβεμὰ θυγατέρα Ἀνὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ Σεβεγὼν τοῦ Εὐαίου
3 and Basemath, Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth.
3 καὶ τὴν Βασεμὰθ θυγατέρα Ἰσμαὴλ ἀδελφὴν Ναβεώθ.
4 Now Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, and Basemath bore Reuel.
4 ἔτεκε δὲ αὐτῷ Ἀδὰ τὸν Ἑλιφάς, καὶ Βασεμὰθ ἔτεκε τὸν Ραγουήλ,
5 And Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
5 καὶ Ὀλιβεμὰ ἔτεκε τὸν Ἰεοὺς καὶ τὸν Ἰεγλὸμ καὶ τὸν Κορέ· οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἡσαῦ, οἳ ἐγένοντο αὐτῷ ἐν γῇ Χαναάν.
6 Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the persons of his household, his cattle and all his animals, and all his goods which he had gained in the land of Canaan, and went to a country away from the presence of his brother Jacob.
6 ἔλαβε δὲ Ἡσαῦ τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ σώματα τοῦ οἴκου αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ κτήνη καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐκτήσατο καὶ πάντα ὅσα περιεποιήσατο ἐν γῇ Χαναάν, καὶ ἐπορεύθη Ἡσαῦ ἐκ τῆς γῆς Χαναὰν ἀπό προσώπου Ἰακὼβ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ.
7 For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land where they were strangers could not support them because of their livestock.
7 ἦν γὰρ αὐτῶν τὰ ὑπάρχοντα πολλὰ τοῦ οἰκεῖν ἅμα, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο ἡ γῆ τῆς παροικήσεως αὐτῶν φέρειν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλήθους τῶν ὑπαρχόντων αὐτῶν.
8 So Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau is Edom.
8 κατῴκησε δὲ Ἡσαῦ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σηεὶρ ( Ἡσαῦ αὐτός ἐστιν Ἐδώμ).
9 And this is the genealogy of Esau the father of the Edomites in Mount Seir.
9 Αὗται δὲ αἱ γενέσεις Ἡσαῦ πατρὸς Ἐδὼμ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Σηείρ,
10 These were the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, and Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau.
10 καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν υἱῶν Ἡσαῦ· Ἑλιφὰς υἱὸς Ἀδᾶς γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ καὶ Ραγουὴλ υἱὸς Βασεμὰθ γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ.
11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
11 ἐγένοντο δὲ Ἑλιφὰς υἱοί· Θαιμάν, Ὡμάρ, Σωφάρ, Γοθὼμ καὶ Κενέζ·
12 Now Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, Esau’s son, and she bore Amalek to Eliphaz. These were the sons of Adah, Esau’s wife.
12 Θαμνὰ δὲ ἦν παλλακὴ Ἑλιφὰς τοῦ υἱοῦ Ἡσαῦ καὶ ἔτεκε τῷ Ἑλιφὰς τὸν Ἀμαλήκ· οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἀδᾶς γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ.
13 These were the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.
13 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Ραγουήλ· Ναχόθ, Ζαρέ, Σομέ, καὶ Μοζέ· οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱοὶ Βασεμὰθ γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ.
14 These were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon. And she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah.
14 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Ὀλιβεμᾶς θυγατρὸς Ἀνὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ Σεβεγών, γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ· ἔτεκε δὲ τῷ Ἡσαῦ τὸν Ἰεοὺς καὶ τὸν Ἰεγλὸμ καὶ τὸν Κορέ.
15 These were the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn son of Esau, were Chief Teman, Chief Omar, Chief Zepho, Chief Kenaz,
15 οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες υἱοὶ Ἡσαῦ· υἱοὶ Ἑλιφὰς πρωτοτόκου Ἡσαῦ· ἡγεμὼν Θαιμάν, ἡγεμὼν Ὡμάρ, ἡγεμὼν Σωφάρ, ἡγεμὼν Κενέζ,
16 Chief Korah, Chief Gatam, and Chief Amalek. These were the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom. They were the sons of Adah.
16 ἡγεμὼν Κορέ, ἡγεμὼν Γοθώμ, ἡγεμὼν Ἀμαλήκ· οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες Ἑλιφὰς ἐν γῇ Ἰδουμαίᾳ· οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἀδᾶς.
17 These were the sons of Reuel, Esau’s son: Chief Nahath, Chief Zerah, Chief Shammah, and Chief Mizzah. These were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom. These were the sons of Basemath, Esau’s wife.
17 καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ραγουὴλ υἱοῦ Ἡσαῦ· ἡγεμὼν Ναχώθ, ἡγεμὼν Ζαρέ, ἡγεμὼν Σομέ, ἡγεμὼν Μοζέ· οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες Ραγουὴλ ἐν γῇ Ἐδώμ· οὗτοι υἱοὶ Βασεμὰθ γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ.
18 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, Esau’s wife: Chief Jeush, Chief Jaalam, and Chief Korah. These were the chiefs who descended from Aholibamah, Esau’s wife, the daughter of Anah.
18 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Ὀλιβεμᾶς γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ· ἡγεμὼν Ἰεούλ, ἡγεμὼν Ἰεγλόμ, ἡγεμὼν Κορέ· οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες Ὀλιβεμᾶς θυγατρὸς Ἀνὰ γυναικὸς Ἡσαῦ.
19 These were the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these were their chiefs.
19 οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἡσαῦ, καὶ οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες αὐτῶν. οὗτοί εἰσιν υἱοὶ Ἐδώμ.
20 These were the sons of Seir the Horite who inhabited the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
20 Οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Σηεὶρ τοῦ Χορραίου τοῦ κατοικοῦντος τὴν γῆν· Λωτά, Σωβάλ, Σεβεγών, Ἀνὰ
21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.
21 καὶ Δησὼν καὶ Ἀσὰρ καὶ Ρισών· οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες τοῦ Χορραίου τοῦ υἱοῦ Σηεὶρ ἐν τῇ γῇ Ἐδώμ.
22 And the sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam. Lotan’s sister was Timna.
22 ἐγένοντο δὲ υἱοὶ Λωτάν· Χορρὶ καὶ Αἰμάν· ἀδελφὴ δὲ Λωτὰν Θαμνά.
23 These were the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
23 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Σωβάλ· Γωλὰμ καὶ Μαναχὰθ καὶ Γαιβὴλ καὶ Σωφὰρ καὶ Ὡμάρ.
24 These were the sons of Zibeon: both Ajah and Anah. This was the Anah who found the water in the wilderness as he pastured the donkeys of his father Zibeon.
24 καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Σεβεγών· Ἀϊέ καὶ Ἀνά· οὗτός ἐστιν Ἀνά, ὃς εὗρε τὸν Ἰαμεὶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, ὅτε ἔνεμε τὰ ὑποζύγια Σεβεγὼν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ.
25 These were the children of Anah: Dishon and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.
25 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Ἀνά· Δησὼν καὶ Ὀλιβεμὰ θυγάτηρ Ἀνά.
26 These were the sons of Dishon:Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.
26 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Δησών· Ἀμαδὰ καὶ Ἀσβὰν καὶ Ἰθρὰν καὶ Χαρράν.
27 These were the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
27 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Ἀσάρ· Βαλαὰμ καὶ Ζουκὰμ καὶ Ἰουκάμ.
28 These were the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
28 οὗτοι δὲ υἱοὶ Ρισών· Ὧς καὶ Ἀράν.
29 These were the chiefs of the Horites: Chief Lotan, Chief Shobal, Chief Zibeon, Chief Anah,
29 οὗτοι δὲ ἡγεμόνες Χορρί· ἡγεμὼν Λωτάν, ἡγεμὼν Σωβάλ, ἡγεμὼν Σεβεγών, ἡγεμὼν Ἀνά,
30 Chief Dishon, Chief Ezer, and Chief Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Horites, according to their chiefs in the land of Seir.
30 ἡγεμὼν Δησών, ἡγεμὼν Ἀσάρ, ἡγεμὼν Ρισών. οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες Χορρὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡγεμονίαις αὐτῶν ἐν γῇ Ἐδώμ.
31 Now these were the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the children of Israel:
31 Καὶ οὗτοι οἱ βασιλεῖς οἱ βασιλεύσαντες ἐν Ἐδὼμ πρὸ τοῦ βασιλεῦσαι βασιλέα ἐν Ἰσραήλ.
32 Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
32 καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ἐδὼμ Βαλὰκ υἱὸς Βεώρ, καὶ ὄνομα τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ Δενναβά.
33 And when Bela died, Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his place.
33 ἀπέθανε δὲ Βαλάκ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Ἰωβὰβ υἱὸς Ζαρὰ ἐκ Βοσόρρας.
34 When Jobab died, Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.
34 ἀπέθανε δὲ Ἰωβάβ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Ἀσὼμ ἐκ τῆς γῆς Θαιμανών.
35 And when Husham died, Hadad the son of Bedad, who attacked Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his place. And the name of his city was Avith.
35 ἀπέθανε δὲ Ἀσώμ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Ἀδὰδ υἱὸς Βαρὰδ ὁ ἐκκόψας Μαδιὰμ ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ Μωάβ, καὶ ὄνομα τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ Γετθαίμ.
36 When Hadad died, Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place.
36 ἀπέθανε δὲ Ἀδάδ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Σαμαδὰ ἐκ Μασεκκᾶς.
37 And when Samlah died, Saul of Rehoboth-by-the-River reigned in his place.
37 ἀπέθανε δὲ Σαμαδά, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Σαοὺλ ἐκ Ροωβὼθ τῆς παρὰ ποταμόν.
38 When Saul died, Baal-Hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his place.
38 ἀπέθανε δὲ Σαούλ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Βαλαεννὼν υἱὸς Ἀχοβώρ.
39 And when Baal-Hanan the son of Achbor died, Hadar reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.
39 ἀπέθανε δὲ Βαλαεννὼν υἱὸς Ἀχοβώρ, καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ᾿ αὐτοῦ Ἀρὰδ υἱὸς Βαράδ, καὶ ὄνομα τῇ πόλει αὐτοῦ Φογώρ, ὄνομα δὲ τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ Μετεβεήλ, θυγάτηρ Ματραΐθ, υἱοῦ Μαιζοώβ.
40 And these were the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families and their places, by their names: Chief Timnah, Chief Alvah, Chief Jetheth,
40 Ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἡγεμόνων Ἡσαῦ ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς αὐτῶν κατὰ τόπον αὐτῶν, ἐν ταῖς χώραις αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν. ἡγεμὼν Θαμνά, ἡγεμὼν Γωλά, ἡγεμὼν Ἰεθέρ,
41 Chief Aholibamah, Chief Elah, Chief Pinon,
41 ἡγεμὼν Ὀλιβεμάς, ἡγεμὼν Ἡλάς, ἡγεμὼν Φινών,
42 Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar,
42 ἡγεμὼν Κενέζ, ἡγεμὼν Θαιμάν, ἡγεμὼν Μαζάρ,
43 Chief Magdiel, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. Esau was the father of the Edomites.
43 ἡγεμὼν Μαγεδιήλ, ἡγεμὼν Ζαφωίν. οὗτοι ἡγεμόνες Ἐδὼμ ἐν ταῖς κατῳκοδομημέναις ἐν τῇ γῇ τῆς κτήσεως αὐτῶν. οὗτος Ἡσαῦ πατὴρ Ἐδώμ.
